Pharma company cited for methylene chloride violations

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued proposed penalties of $357,300 to Rochester, NY pharmaceutical manufacturer, UCB Manufacturing for alleged violations of the methylene chloride standard. Alleged violations included not providing adequate controls to prevent exposures, inadequate respiratory protection, failure to determine each employee’s exposure, failure to provide medical surveillance, and failure to provide information about the hazards of methylene chloride.
